SSgA resided in numerous locations around Canary Wharf and the City and planned to consolidate all offices into 20 Churchill Place, a purpose built headquarters in Canary Wharf.
Deltabit were asked to tender for this relocation having successfully completed moves for SSgA from St James to Canary Wharf.
The challenge
Many of the positions were dealer desks consisting of 3 or 4 monitors and Bloomberg terminals.
That company would need be able to audit and cross reference desk positions and users and help create the desk plan.
SSgA needed a company that could not only physically move all infrastructure but project manage and offer IT support throughout the move.
One of the reasons for choosing Deltabit was that we had completed moves for SSgA and demonstrated our project management and technical skills.
The solution
Deltabit were asked to relocate SSgA’s IT infrastructure for all offices, moving 400 Desktops, 50 Printers and over 1000 monitors over the course of 2 weekends.
A full audit of each user and each location on all sites was carried out and verified three times before being finalised and agreed by both parties. A change management regime was put in place as there were “leavers” and “new starters” right up to the week of the move. Deltabit provided a documented desk plan for each location and user which was then reflected in the floor plan. Photographs were taken of each user position so that we had an exact record of user equipment layout.
Prior to the move Deltabit engineers tested the new network and installed monitor arms, cable tidies and PC caddies in preparation for the move. All equipment was positioned, audited and fully tested following a process agreed with SSgA. Every user was live and operational on the Monday morning without incident.
