Zenith Bank

Zenith Bank Plc is one of the largest and most profitable banks in Nigeria. The bank was established in May 1990, became a public limited company in June 2004 and was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in October 2004. The bank presently has a shareholder base of about one million.

Zenith Bank identified London as a key location to expand their international presence. After an extensive search the directors of the Bank selected a property in Cornhill, EC3 for their Trade Finance operation. Deltabit were engaged to work alongside Price Waterhouse Coopers to develop a brief for a communications infrastructure that would meet FSA Compliance regulations. The design needed to dovetail with Zenith’s Nigerian technology standards and protocols.

The key was the protection of business and client data through a highly resilient Comms Room and network infrastructure backed up by a recognised DR facilit

The challenge

The greatest challenge to this project was the condensed timescales required to get the Bank Operational. The facility needed to be designed and built within a 16 week period to enable the bank to start trading as soon as possible.
The premises are multi–tenanted and Grade II listed; requiring licenses to be obtained to enable Mechanical plant to be sited on the roof and pipe-work and cabling routed through restrictive riser within the building.
Due to the nature of building construction the routes to the roof were extremely arduous. All plant hardware had to be broken down and re-assembled to be taken through the building; putting greater pressure of the construction programme. Planning permission for the condensers was required from City of London which included the requirement of acoustic surveys and reports. This led to the need to provide acoustic and aesthetic shrouds

The solution

Deltabit quickly drew up plans and network schematics for approval by the Parent Company and the FSA which were then turned into license to alter and working drawings for landlord and City of London approvals. A budget was developed and signed off by Zenith and once approvals were granted Deltabit were able to instruct the various contractors and sub contractors who had already surveyed and costed the individual elements. Deltabit’s project and technical management team oversaw the works from start to finish including commissioning and witness testing

The system has already paid for itself as we have made staffing level changes to suit the statistical footfall of the branch based from real time information rather than staff perception of how busy the store is. We have also gleaned invaluable information about how customers react to our merchandising campaigns and strategies as well as identifying buying patterns by gender and approximate age.
